DUNHAM Massey’s popular children’s play attraction Red House Farm has announced it is to close later this year.

In a statement its owners said it would close its doors on Monday November 4. The announcement added: “Sadly the regulatory requirements and associated costs of running a children’s play site have reached the point where the operation is no longer viable.”

It added: “The site will continue as normal until the end of the Halloween event, and we stress that all existing obligations including functions and birthday parties will be honoured.

“We have birthday parties booked in until Sunday November 3, which will be the final day of public opening.

The physiotherapist, chiropractor and reflexologist will continue unaffected after this date, as will yoga classes, boot camp and mama bod squad.”

The statement added that the business would continue as a working farm, expanding its organic free range egg production and growing more organic crops.

It added: “We will also be hosting various activities including educational visits, and likely running one-off events, notably the annual Pumpkin Picking festival.

“However, party activities will cease, and the farm shop, café and play area will be closing.

“It’s a decision we’ve taken with considerable regret, however each passing year has seen a significant increase in running costs.

“We’ve made every attempt to streamline our offering, but we have been left with no resource to invest in improving our facilities and it’s become increasingly difficult to maintain standards.”
